New European Bauhaus
New European Bauhaus is a creative, interdisciplinary movement already under construction...
and you too can take part!

Description
New European Bauhaus connects the European Green Deal with our living spaces. The initiative calls on all Europeans to come together and imagine and construct a sustainable, inclusive future that is beautiful to the eye, mind, and soul.
Tabakalera was selected as an official partner of the New European Bauhaus by the European Commission, together with two other Basque initiatives: Conexiones Improbables and Bilbao Metrópoli-30.
Objectives of the initiative
What is the New European Bauhaus initiative:
- It is an experimentation and connection platform that promotes collaboration between those who think and those who act, and those that want to conceive the way we will live together in the future.
- It is a bridge between the world of science and technology, and the world of art and culture.
- It is an invitation to change our perspective and see our environmental and digital challenges as further opportunities to transform our lives for the better.
- It is a new way of thinking that hopes to provide innovative solutions to our society’s complex problems through collective creation. The initiative seeks to articulate our thought, our behaviour, and our markets around new ways of living and building, while influencing public procurement and other areas.
The objectives of New European Bauhaus:
- Bringing together citizens, experts, businesses, and institutions, and fostering conversations about how to make future living spaces more accessible and affordable.
- Mobilising designers, architects, engineers, scientists, students, and creative minds from all disciplines to re-imagine sustainable life in Europe and beyond.
- Attempting to improve the quality of our living experience, insisting on the value of simplicity, functionality, and circularity of materials without forsaking aspects of comfort and attractiveness that are necessary in our daily lives.
- Facilitating financial support for innovative products and ideas through coordinated programmes and open calls for specific proposals that will be included within the multi-annual financial framework.

Egunon, good days I am a graduate in Social and Cultural Anthropology and I think that interesting proposals can arise from my academic profile to contribute, mainly in the field of inclusion, although initiatives can also be provided in relation to social networks, configuration of the city from a citizen perspective, etc.

We have been working for years to change the typology of educational environments. The new spaces must solve the challenges of learning in the 21st century, overcoming the traditional classroom, contributing to enhance the learning experience with a social, open and inclusive look, encouraging creativity, participation and spatial appropriation by users who inhabit it and becoming another tool to promote such learning. We seek to establish synergies with educators and schools that want to contribute to this project.

The inclusion of heritage in the agenda is paramount, as a citizen connector. Because if we seek a sustainable future, we will achieve it in a transdisciplinary way, through a common language for all without distinction of age. Educational and communicative tools to revalue customs, trades and sites that we are part of to be able to guide with new technologies the challenges that arise, always keeping in mind the objectives that we have in common.
